What “sundowner” means, and how ours differs
In the Gulf safari trade a sundowner is a short private drive timed to the sunset. You head up the dunes in late afternoon, have a drink on the ridge as the sun goes, and turn for home soon after dark.
On page 1 for this search, that format sells at AED 1,000 for four hours with soft drinks and tea, and no meal. Ours runs on past sunset: you keep the car and the ridge, then sit down to a private BBQ dinner at camp. That is why it lasts about five hours, not four.

Sunset at Al Khatim swings by more than 90 minutes across the year, from about 17:35 in late autumn to about 19:10 in early July.
What this means for you: pickup is 3:30–4:00 PM all year and you are back by 8:30–9:00 PM. From November to February that puts you on the ridge for the warm light, with dinner after dark. When sunset comes later, the driver changes the order on the sand so the ridge still comes last.
